One Giant Leap

January 3rd, 2010 sees the 5th anniversary of the Napa School of Music.

The school was conceived in February of 2004 by Director Peter Sykes and his wife, Victoria.  Peter, who had a successful private teaching studio with around 60 students, was constantly asked for recommendations for teachers of other instruments.  He realized that there was a need in the community for a music school that would provide music lessons for all ages on a variety of instruments - a “one-stop shop” location for music instruction that was safe and family friendly.

Location Location Location

Originally located at 1957 Sierra Avenue and now in the Tannery district at 101 S. Coombs St., NSM opened its doors on January 3rd, 2005 with just 80 students

upright), clarinet, drums, euphonium, flute, guitar, harmonica, keyboards, piano, saxophone, steel guitar, trombone, tuba, ukulele, viola, violin, and voice too!

For Those About To Rock!

The Garage Band 101 program, now in it’s 20th session, is this time focusing on the music of AC/DC and Led Zeppelin.  Students are already busy rehearsing for the Friday, March 5th gig at the Napa Valley Opera House.  Bring the whole family for a fun night out.  If the last sold out show is anything to go by, we are expecting another capacity audience. So make sure to buy your tickets well ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

Call the Opera House at 226-7372 or visit their website www.nvoh.org for more details
